Campaign Details
Having survived violence and persecution, Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh are now facing another humanitarian disaster. Every year, Bangladesh experiences a cyclone season from March and a monsoon season which begins in May, both of which cause extensive destruction and damage. The floods and landslides this extreme weather will cause threaten to devastate refugee camps and settlements.
According to the UN, up to 100,000 refugees are in grave danger due to the location of their shelters on unstable slopes and low-lying ground, while the wider population faces the spread of disease caused by damage to sanitation facilities and the contamination of drinking water. Many existing health facilities will be destroyed or become inaccessible.
MOAS has already treated over 40,000 people and is determined to continue providing desperately-needed emergency care to this highly vulnerable community. We are urgently raising funds to equip mobile medical teams and prepare our two field clinics for the extreme weather, ensuring we can reach those who need us.
As we face the coming monsoons and cyclones, our dedicated medical team are supported by members of our hugely experienced Search and Rescue team, who saved so many lives in the Central Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. Now we need your help to continue our life-saving work.
Thanks to the generosity of a long-standing MOAS supporter, every euro you give will be matched up to 34,020 euros. Help us reach this target and do what we do best: provide a lifeline to those in crisis.
